Your support matters - So Thank you!

Where does your money go?

  1. Artists: Our salons provide an intentional platform for independent artists and creative facilitators to showcase their work by teaching communities on healing and resilience building. We believe artists and creative facilitators, with a subject matter expertise aligned with the building of a more conscious and equitable world, act as critical culture carriers, healers and community connectors. We commit to paying our facilitators/teachers a fair-trade honorarium per salon.

  2. Work of the World: Part of our proceeds from ticketing every year supports a nominated beneficiary– a grassroots organization that is doing critical work in areas including, sustaining and amplifying dignity of life and livelihood (includes human trafficking), food security, education and environmental justice. We typically pick organizations that do not benefit from extensive fundraising capacity, have strong governance, and mirror our values of empowering individuals to contribute to inclusive and compassionate change.

This year, we are committing 30-50% from ticketing proceeds to
Friends of Liberty State Park (FOLSP) until we reach our target of $1000.

FOLSP is a grassroots, New Jersey-based non-profit organization, headed by Sam Pesin and a dedicated group of volunteers, who are driving advocacy to protect Liberty State Park –  a rare tract of publicly-owned green space overlooking New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. This acreage includes natural wetlands of Caven Point, a historically-significant sacred site for the Lenape Indians and home to threatened wildlife. While the park has been targeted for redevelopment since the 1970’s, and now most directly and recently, the friends of Liberty State Park are fighting a citizen’s battle against a billionaire and his commercial interests.

Donations to the SFL Operating Fund support operating costs associated with running Salons for Life, such as event and invitee management tools like Zoom, our content management platforms and the talent that drives this content marketing strategy. Largely, most of our creative back-end services are taken care of by two full-time working artists, who render their services to the salons part-time, one of whom is a co-founder. Two of the co-founders do not take a living wage, which helps us keep our operations cost low and lean.
